Project Summary
Teaching and learning in higher education in times of war and growing social conflict is challenging. NAVINCLASS focuses on how broader political and social conflicts are present in the classroom and shape teaching and learning. The aim is to develop guidelines and workshops based on Peace & Conflict Studies approaches. NAVINCLASS doesn’t see conflict in the classroom per se as negative, but as an opportunity to inform learning processes and strengthen collaborative learning.
NAVINCLASS empowers students, educators, and universities with sustainable tools to engage constructively with conflicts in the classroom. By emphasising local peacebuilding and dialogical research, it fosters inclusive and respectful learning spaces. Through focus group discussions, the project develops practical guidelines and simulation-based learning workshops, ensuring conflicts become opportunities for critical engagement rather than sources of division.
NAVINCLASS aims to increase students’ competence in handling conflicts constructively in and around the classroom. It enhances educators’ ability to address conflicts effectively, fostering inclusive and respectful learning spaces. The project builds sustainable institutional knowledge, ensuring universities develop long-term strategies for managing, teaching, and learning in politically and socially challenging contexts.
