Outputs
Within the project, practical materials are being developed to support higher education institutions in addressing classroom conflicts in a constructive and conflict-sensitive way. Based on empirical research and theoretical approaches, the project develops multilingual guidelines and simulation-based workshop formats tailored to diverse educational contexts.
The guidelines provide educators and students with structured strategies for managing conflicts in teaching and learning environments, while the workshops promote interactive and experiential learning on conflict resolution and dialogue. All materials are continuously refined through feedback from educators, students, and institutional stakeholders to ensure their practical relevance and long-term applicability.
Through these outputs, the project aims to strengthen conflict-sensitive pedagogy and foster inclusive and reflective learning environments in higher education.
Work Package 1: Project Management
WP1 focuses on the overall coordination, monitoring, and quality assurance of the NAVINCLASS project. Led by the Philipps-Universität Marburg, it ensures effective communication, financial oversight, and the timely implementation of project activities through regular meetings, reporting mechanisms, and collaborative evaluation processes.
In addition, WP1 is responsible for developing the Quality Assurance Plan and the Risk Mitigation and Contingency Plan, which guide project management and decision-making throughout the project duration. The work package also supports inclusive, sustainable, and digitally facilitated cooperation among all project partners, ensuring transparency, accessibility, and efficient international collaboration.
Work Package 2: Project Exploring
WP2 focuses on exploring classroom conflicts and conflict management strategies through focus groups with students and educators across all partner institutions. By identifying local challenges, existing good practices, and diverse perspectives, the work package provides the empirical foundation for developing conflict-sensitive teaching and learning approaches within NAVINCLASS.
The work package is coordinated by Universidad Pontificia Comillas with support from the University of Mostar and includes the development of a shared mapping tool, focus group implementation, comparative analysis, and the preparation of a final report. Through participatory and context-sensitive research methods, WP2 strengthens cross-institutional learning and contributes to sustainable strategies for addressing conflict and polarisation in higher education.
Work Package 3: Project Analysis
WP3 focuses on integrating theories and approaches from Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS), particularly Peace Education and Civil Conflict Transformation, into practical strategies for managing classroom conflicts. By connecting theoretical concepts with the empirical findings from WP2, the work package develops conflict-sensitive approaches that support inclusive dialogue, critical reflection, and non-violent conflict resolution in higher education.
The work package is led by the University of Sarajevo with Philipps-Universität Marburg as co-lead and brings together expertise from Sarajevo, Marburg, Madrid, and Coimbra. Activities include the assessment of relevant PACS approaches, the development of classroom conflict management tools, and the preparation of a theoretical report that provides the methodological foundation for later project activities and teaching guidelines.
Work Package 4: Project Implementing
WP4 focuses on developing practical conflict management guidelines and simulation-based workshop formats for educators and students. Building on the empirical findings from WP2 and the theoretical approaches from WP3, the work package develops conflict-sensitive teaching strategies that promote inclusive dialogue, critical reflection, and constructive engagement with classroom conflicts.
Led by the University of Coimbra with support from the University of Sarajevo, WP4 includes the preparation of multilingual guidelines, the development of simulation-based workshop formats, and pilot workshops in Cluj, Coimbra, and Sarajevo. Feedback from educators and students is systematically integrated to refine the final materials and ensure their applicability across diverse higher education contexts.
Work Package 5: Project Dissemination
WP5 focuses on the communication, dissemination, and long-term sustainability of the NAVINCLASS project. Through a structured dissemination strategy, a dedicated project website, Multiplier Events, policy recommendations, and academic publications, WP5 ensures that the project’s findings reach educators, researchers, policymakers, and higher education institutions beyond the consortium itself.
The work package is led by Babeș-Bolyai University, while the Philipps-Universität Marburg coordinates the project website and final dissemination activities. WP5 promotes the broad adoption of conflict-sensitive teaching approaches through international and local dissemination events, policy-oriented outputs, and academic exchange, ensuring the long-term visibility and impact of NAVINCLASS.
