Activation of the YubiKey

The YubiKey you received must be activated once in order to link it to your staff account.

  1. Terms of Use: Agree to the terms of use and click Next. A form will appear.
  2. Username: Enter your staff username (e.g., mueller).
  3. Realm (User Group): Select the appropriate user group. This value is usually stated in your letterhead or is 99% of the time staff-rollout.
  4. Focus on the Password Field: Now enter your corresponding password into the password field. Important: Leave the cursor inside the password field after typing.
  5. Insert the YubiKey: Plug the YubiKey to be activated into a free USB slot. Wait until the golden contact area lights up.
  6. Enter the Token (Slot 1): Now press the golden contact area briefly (for a maximum of 1 second).
    • The 48-digit one-time password is automatically typed into the password field.
      The form is usually submitted automatically. If it is not, click on Activate.
    • Information on Token Slots:
      • Slot 1 (short press) is designated for your staff account.
      • Slot 2 (long press) is currently only used by the HRZ. Please only use Slot 1 (short press).
